Christmas on the Horizon

Christmas on the Horizon first appeared on the Backyard Bug Patrol blog.

First off, we want to start by wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. A wonderful time of year to spend with your loved ones, eat lots of tasty food and celebrate all the things we realize we are thankful for. It’s a time to show appreciation and make the most of the celebrations.

With the weeks flying by as quickly as they do, we will soon have Christmas on our doorstep. Residents in Potomac, MD are already preparing their popular ‘Winter Wonderland’ destination for visitors.

Winter Wonderland

The holiday season means it is time once again for Christmas on the Potomac at Gaylord National Resort at National Harbor. Debuting in 2008, Christmas on the Potomac has become one of the Washington, DC region’s most anticipated holiday destinations. The annual celebration includes nightly fountain shows, indoor snowfall, a 55-foot-tall suspended star-tiered Christmas tree, the award-winning ICE! attraction and more. Festivities run now through January 1.

Of course, with Christmas on the horizon, we are also starting to think about decorating our homes and purchasing that all important main feature…the Christmas Tree. Beautifully decorated with lights and ornaments, our little piece of the outdoors brings a touch of magic. However, it can also bring a touch of trouble because tiny ticks like to make them their home. Remember this message from Jimmy Kimmel from last year?

So if you are looking to purchase a ‘real’ tree instead of an artificial one, you might want to make sure you check it over before you take it into your home because ticks love Christmas trees too.
