We thought it important information to share with you just how the Zika virus can be transmitted from person to person. It’s not only being bitten yourself by an infected mosquito that can put you at risk from this potentially harmful disease, there are so far, four ways that this virus can travel.

The four ways you can get Zika virus

As Zika virus continues to run roughshod through Latin America, public health officials have confirmed four ways the virus can be passed from person to person.

There have been a few reported cases of the virus being transmitted sexually, so folks, we need to make sure not only our mosquito control but also methods of protecting ourselves from sexually transmitted diseases,  are taken care of.

A person in the Texas has caught the Zika virus during sex, in what is thought to be the first case of the illness being transmitted in the US. The patient, who has not been named, had not travelled abroad but had sex with someone who had contracted Zika while visiting Venezuela, according to Dallas County health officials.

Remember that mosquitoes are the main cause of spreading Zika, and not sexual contact, but just be mindful of the possibilities that are out there and the dangers that we could potentially be exposing ourselves to.
