Uh oh, the Burning Man site is infested with mosquito swarms, stink bugs, and biting insects

“You may have seen the bug rumors on the internet. We are here to tell you that they are all true. Well maybe not all of the rumors, but the bugs are real. They’re everywhere. They bite. They crawl all over you. They get up and in you,” wrote John Curley on the Burning Man blog.

Take plenty of repellent and make sure your sleeping arrangements give you the most protection possible. Nobody wants to wake up surrounded by a sea of bugs!

With so many types of biting and disease spreading pests, not only will you need to stay safe, but you will also have to make sure you don’t bring any back with you when it’s time to return home.

If a stink bug does happen to hijack your festival baggage, then you need to know what to do.

Reports of the bugs first started surfacing on Twitter, with photos of swarms of bugs covering tires and carpets in Black Rock City. Organizers speculated on the Burning Man blog that the bugs, once lying dormant in the desert, were hatched by spring and summer rains. Some organizers have reported being bitten.
